Gridfinity drawer planner

Gridmint's drawer planner fits Gridfinity exactly to your drawer: enter the inner dimensions, drag out bins on the grid, check the height – and export the baseplate and all bins print-ready for your printer. Free, no sign-up, right in your browser.

Example: how Gridmint calculates a drawer with 400 × 300 mm inner size
StepWidthDepth
Inner size400 mm300 mm
minus clearance (0.5 mm per side)399 mm299 mm
whole 42 mm units9 units = 378 mm7 units = 294 mm
remainder as padding, centered10.5 mm each2.5 mm each

Gridmint drops padding strips under 1 mm. You can adjust the clearance (in the “Baseplate” section) and how padding is distributed (centered or to one side).

1. Measure your drawer

Measure the drawer inside, at the bottom – that's where the baseplate sits. With sloping side walls, the smaller bottom measurement counts. For the height, measure from the drawer bottom to the underside of whatever sits above it when closed.

Inner dimensions for many pieces of furniture and cases are built in: IKEA ALEX, HELMER, MALM, KALLAX, PAX, BESTÅ and MAXIMERA, Systainer, L-BOXX, Makita MAKPAC, Milwaukee PACKOUT, DeWalt TSTAK, Euro containers and tool chests. Pick a template and you're measured.

2. Grid and padding

Gridfinity uses a grid of 42 × 42 mm units. Gridmint instantly calculates how many units fit your drawer and adds the remainder to the baseplate as padding – so it sits snugly and doesn't slide around. A little clearance per side makes the plate easy to drop in.

3. Arrange your bins

4. Height check: your drawer still closes

Gridmint adds up baseplate, bin, stacking lip and lid and compares the total with your drawer's height. If a bin is too tall, the planner warns you and offers to shorten bins that are too tall. One height unit is 7 mm.

5. Print

The baseplate is split to fit your print bed; the parts lock together with dovetail puzzle joints. Choose staggered seams (strongest), equal-sized parts or the fewest parts. Almost 30 printer profiles are built in, and custom bed sizes work too.

You end up with a bill of materials listing every part, a shopping list (filament, magnets, screws) and an estimate of print time, filament and cost. Export as STL, STEP, 3MF or as a ready-made Bambu Studio project with all plates.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to the space that isn't enough for a whole unit?

Gridmint adds it to the baseplate as padding, split evenly on both sides by default. That way the plate fills the drawer and doesn't slide.

My drawer is bigger than my print bed. Does it still work?

Yes. The baseplate is automatically split into parts that fit your bed and lock together with puzzle joints.

Can I mix Gridmint parts with other Gridfinity models?

Yes. Dimensions are matched against the reference project gridfinity-rebuilt. Bins from MakerWorld or Printables fit Gridmint baseplates and vice versa.
