Gridfinity baseplate generator
The baseplate is the foundation of every Gridfinity drawer – it's what the bins click into. With Gridmint you create it to fit your drawer exactly: with padding, automatically split for your print bed and with puzzle joints that hold the parts together.
| Style | Build | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Slim | Open frame, 5 mm tall | minimal material, shallow drawers. No puzzle joints – the parts are held together by the bins alone |
| Lattice | Open grid floor, 2 mm thick, snaps together | the sturdy all-rounder with little filament |
| Magnets | Grid floor with four magnet islands per unit (6 × 2 mm) | bins with magnets that should stay put |
| Screw-down | like “Magnets”, plus one countersunk hole per unit | plates screwed into a drawer or workbench |
All styles are compatible with Gridfinity bins from other makers.
Fits your drawer – with padding
Enter your drawer's inner dimensions and Gridmint calculates how many 42 mm units fit. The remainder is added to the plate as padding – centered by default, or pushed to one side. That way the baseplate fills the drawer and doesn't slide. Alternatively, simply set a fixed number of units.
Split for your print bed, with puzzle joints
A baseplate for a full drawer is almost always bigger than the print bed. Gridmint splits it automatically to fit your printer – almost 30 profiles from Bambu Lab A1 mini to Voron are built in, and custom bed sizes work too.
- Dovetail puzzle joints: the parts click together and hold without glue. The joint needs a floor, so it's available for “Lattice”, “Magnets” and “Screw-down”.
- Staggered seams: like bricks in a wall, the seams don't run straight through – the plate stays rigid. Alternatively: as few parts as possible, or all the same size.
- Nothing hangs over the edge: parts are cut so they fit the bed including the puzzle tabs.
Export print-ready
Every part is available as STL or STEP, everything together as a ZIP or as a 3MF with the parts already placed on the plates. For Bambu Lab printers Gridmint creates a ready-made Bambu Studio project. You see print time, filament use and cost before you export.
Printing tips
- Baseplates print without supports.
- With magnet baseplates, mind the polarity so bins are attracted rather than repelled.
- Check the fit before printing the whole drawer: the “Download fit test” button gives you two small plate parts with puzzle joints and a 1×1 bin – about 20 g of filament.
Frequently asked questions
How big is a Gridfinity unit?
One unit is 42 × 42 mm. The baseplate has a socket for each unit that the bins' feet click into.
Do I need magnets?
No. Bins sit securely in the baseplate without magnets. Magnets help if the drawer is yanked open or bins should stay in place when bumped.
Do I have to glue the parts?
No. The dovetail joints hold the parts together, and the padding keeps the plate in position inside the drawer.
