Gridfinity for tool chests and tool boxes
Tool chests have large, shallow drawers – perfect for Gridfinity. Unlike foam inserts that only fit once, bins and tool pockets can be rearranged at any time. Here are dimensions and grid for popular models.

Default clearance 0.5 mm per side. Height in 7 mm units, with the “Lattice” baseplate, stacking lip and 0.5 mm air, without a lid. Parts = baseplate split for the print bed. Values marked “approx.” are guide values – please measure.
Hazet and Würth
The drawers of the Hazet Assistent 179N offer 12 × 9 units, those of the Würth WE trolley 13 × 9. Shallow drawers allow bins of about 7 to 10 units, deep drawers much more.
US General and Craftsman
For US General tool carts and the Craftsman tool box, the dimensions are community guide values. Measure your drawer and adjust the values in the planner – especially the height, which isn’t stored there.
Tools in custom inserts
Wrenches, pliers and ratchets get their own place with a custom insert from a photo. You’ll see at a glance when something is missing.
Measure before printing: width and depth inside at the bottom, height from the bottom to the underside of whatever sits above when closed. If your numbers differ, enter them in the planner – Gridmint recalculates everything.

Frequently asked questions
How many Gridfinity units fit in a US General tool cart?
Based on community measurements, the Series 2 and Series 3 drawers take about 13 × 11 units. Please measure your drawer first.
Isn't the baseplate too big to print for such large drawers?
Gridmint splits it automatically into parts for your print bed that lock together with puzzle joints – about six parts on a Bambu Lab P1S for the Hazet and Würth drawers.
